A little on the expensive side for a futon mattress.
The trial period is longer on other models.
The Shikibuton is Airweave's firmest model: we rank it 8.5/10 on the firmness scale. The all-weather outer cover features a velvety soft side for cooler days and a breathable thin layer on the other side for when it's hotter.
Those that are back and stomach sleepers will do best with the firmer, more solid feel of this mattress.
Construction Key Points
The Shikibuton mattress is 2.8" thick.
It's made up of two layers, an all-weather cover and an airfiber core.
Cover: The cover is 100% Cotton (warm side), and a Poly 55%, Cotton 45% blend (cool side). This is a unique feature that allows you to adjust your mattress feel based on the weather and your temperature.
Inner Layer: The core is made of Airweave's proprietary Airfiber® material. Expect a firm, supportive feel and easy airflow properties.
Support & Motion Isolation
Motion isolation is extremely impressive with Airweave mattresses. This was surprising to us, due to the bounciness of the airfiber. While the airfiber core has a quick response to pressure, the spaces between the plastic filaments allow the material to isolate motion well.
We found the support to be even, from the center of the bed to the very edges. There was no worrying compression on the edges when we laid or sat there. Overall, the support was phenomenal!
Every bit of motion from your partner is absorbed! We've rated this as a top futon mattress choice for couples.
Reasons to Buy a Shikibuton Mattress
